A Safari Adventure Just Minutes From Palm Springs!
by Gary Jordan
If you love the great outdoors but you just don’t like the idea of roughing it, this is what you’ve been waiting for. Elite Land Tours in Palm Springs, offers the ultimate in Safari Luxury. Safari Trax, Elite’s newest offering, will allow visitors to get up close and personal with a variety of exotic wild cats including two Siberian Tigers - the largest cats on the planet.

You’ll be whisked away to the 80 acre reserve in a luxury Hummer H2. Once at the Reserve, we felt as though we had traveled across the ocean and were on the Serengeti, as two golden Asian leopards leapt upon the hood. Don’t forget your camera, these animals are incredible.

We continued our photo safari snapping picture after picture of the golden Asian leopards jumping and playing with each other. A few minutes later the Siberian tigers appeared for their daily romp. It was at that very moment a magnificent black leopard appeared and acted as though he was giving us an official greeting.

After the photo safari, we got tiger kisses from the two Siberian tigers. Our guide sprayed the tigers with water and that’s when the hilarity ensued, with the twosome running around splashing everyone in sight.

For those whose of you who are foodies, the tour includes a gourmet meal on the reserve underneath a pergola. White linens and silverware dressed the tables. We continued to enjoy a delicious meal while watching the animals run free in a large open area of the reserve. As we were finishing with our meal, a trainer brought to the spectator area another exotic cat: a lynx.
Kele Younger, owner of the reserve, began working with wild cats as a runway model. She has spent over twenty hears with many of her cats. Currently her exotic animals work in film, TV, and print. Her tigers recently appeared on an episode of the new hit comedy “The Loop” entitled “Tiger Express” starring Mimi Rogers. Her two leopards appeared in a recent photo shoot for Glamour and Elle magazines.
